What Does Happiness Look like ?
After some deep soul searching and asking myself questions about what do I want out of this business this year? Questions like : what is my ultimate aim? What does “Happiness” look like? And What do i consider “Success”?
I was surprised at some of the answers I eventually drilled down to.
I don’t mean the obvious knee jerk, superficial answers like: “I want more money” or “I want a Bigger house” or “I want more holidays” etc. It’s only after asking “WHY” to my initial answers that I discovered Two Very Interesting things :
1: Sometimes things we are striving so hard to achieve can actually be very simple.
2: Are already within our reach !
For example.. One of the answers I found after “deep, deep dive” soul searching, was:
“I want to be more relaxed, content and at peace” .
Many people are under the misconception that simply by “making loads of money” it will automatically bring “peace”, “contentment” and “relaxation” ….. I don’t believe it does ! …..
It certainly Helps ! :), but it doesn’t just happen by itself.
I believe we make our own Happiness.
…So I asked the questions: “Why am I NOT relaxed, Content and at peace?” AND “how can I achieve this NOW?“
Here are the conclusions I came to and how I achieved it..In 3 days!
“How to be more at Peace”…
A: Meditate. = Stop the “noise” breathe deep, Learn to be still.
If you were to do a survey of the top achievers in any industry you’d probably find that most have a common trait or “habit” and that is: They practice some form of meditation.
I know it may sound all “hippy mumbo jumbo”, and you may say it’ll never work, But I strongly advise you try it.
It really does help to clear the mind of all the “Overload” and allows space for clear thought and focus to enter.
“How to be more relaxed”….
A: Exercise. = Relaxation.
This answer was right under my nose. In Dog Psychology, If you have a stressed or over anxious dog, It’s usually the result of no, or not enough exercise…… More, and regular exercise = Chilled out, laid back Dog!
Works the same for us mere Humans. Proper, regular exercise = Less stress, Feel Great, more relaxed.
“How to be more content” ….
A: Live each Day at a time, be mindful of your thoughts and actions, Don’t dwell on the past or “Imagined” futures.
Don’t stress or worry about things that can’t be changed or you have no control over. “Let It Go !“
Practice being “conscious” of your thoughts, without judging or acting on them. Simply be “aware” of them. Then you can simply “let them go” or be better prepared to deal with them.
Try to be a better “you“, make everything you do, the best you can do.
Result = Happy Boy. …MUCH more relaxed, focused, content and at peace! 🙂
Making a few small changes or “course corrections” to your life and way of thinking, can REALLY make a BIG difference!
